Triumph Spitfire 1500 Project
There is nothing quite like open top motoring. Even better classic low to the ground roadster. I’ve owned a Triumph Spitfire but that was almost a decade ago. It was a slightly tatty but very drivable 1974. That car remains … Continue reading

Taking the diesel Mercedes to the auto-x!
Conventional wisdom would suggest that a big, old, heavy and diesel powered classic car is not the ideal auto-x weapon. This is undoubtedly correct but I brought out my 1970 Mercedes-Benz 220D anyway. No one would accuse it of being … Continue reading
The 220D back on the road
After finishing the bodywork the 220D is now legally registered, insured and back on the road. I got rained on during the initial drive but everything went well and a managed to get a few photos.

Solex B30 PSEI-6 carburetor rebuild – 1965 Envoy Epic
When I bought my 1965 Envoy Epic the seller said it needed a new accelerator pump diaphragm. It would stumble and stall under anything more than the most modest throttle inputs. So I figured it could do with a carburetor … Continue reading

New Project Car: 1965 Envoy Epic
I’m not done my Mercedes Benz 220D yet but I couldn’t resist picking up this 1965 Envoy Epic. It is the optimistically named Envoy Epic which is a Canadian only variant on the Vauxhall Viva HA sold at Chevrolet/Oldsmobile dealers. … Continue reading

Hello and Goodbye Parts Car – 1971 Mercedes Benz 220D
My recently acquired 1970 Mercedes Benz 220D would likely not have been economically reasonable to fix up if I didn’t have a cheap parts car to pull from. The missing and broken items list added up to well over the … Continue reading

Latest Project – 1970 Mercedes Benz 220D
Here is my latest project car and my first diesel vehicle; a 1970 Mercedes Benz 220D sedan in an attractive blue colour (Biscayne Blue I believe). To make the low powered diesel at least palatable it has the four speed … Continue reading

Rambler hubcap cleanup
I bought this hubcap from the scrapyard just because I rather liked it. Looked pretty bad but I was able to clean it up rather nicely. before: after:
Classic Smith’s gauges
image used via redtimmy by Creative Commons license One of my favorite things about classic British cars is the wonderful Smith’s gauges most of them use. The speedometer on my Triumph Spitfire wasn’t always the most accurate at low speeds … Continue reading
A&W Cruise for the Cause in Lethbridge – 2012
I attended this year’s A&W’s Cruise for the Cause with two of my boys so not too many photos this time out but it was a fun show. My middle boy won a prize at the ring toss and picked … Continue reading
