An OHC, six cylinder Pontiac Firebird is so much more interesting than a run of the mill Firebird V8 because of unique engine. Rated at 230hp with the Sprint package the overhead cam six cylinder engine sports a four barrel carburetor. While that doesn’t sound super impressive today it was quite novel for American manufacturer back in the 1960s.
The OHC straight six was an attempt to attract import sports car buyers. GM was definitely the most daring of the Big Three at the time and pushed the engineering envelope. Like many modern cars the six cylinder motor used a rubber timing belt.
This Firebird is for sale on on Kijiji (http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1969-firebird-4-1-ltr-overhead-cam-W0QQAdIdZ502106928) and looks to be in very nice condition with an interesting green colour.
