Car ownership milestones

I’ve owned a lot of vehicles and enjoyed each one (mostly) for different things.

Here are a few of my car milestones

First vehicle: 1980 Dodge Maxivan – a hand me down from parents this was a fantastic young man’s vehicle with tons of room inside, a rear seat that folded down to a bed and snazzy wood paneling on the inside.

Most fun vehicle: 1974 Triumph Spitfire 1500 – definitely the most fun to drive around the city. Some of my best memories of drives with toddler in the passenger seat.

Most reliable: 2000 Chrysler Neon – four years, 100k kms and the only thing outside of routine maintenance was a window motor that broke. Of course it broke in the down position in -30C weather.

Cheapest: 1988 Ford Tempo L – bought it for $50. Only needed a battery and a few cheap bits and pieces. Drove it for a bit before selling sans battery for $250.

Car I’d most want back: 1981 Mazda Rx-7 S – Ran like a top, nice Riken mesh rims and cosmetically perfect I never should have sold it.
